Suggestion for new Lagrangian solver: pimpleCoupledKinematicParcelFoam
A couple of years ago I wrote a lagrangian solver which combines the kinematicCloud of particles with an incompressible pimple solver. Since the Lagrangian cloud wants to have a dimensionful pressure, whereas pimpleFoam uses a dimensionless pressure, I used the same trick as done in buoyantBoussinequeFoam: I split the pressure in p = p_rgh + rgh and use the p for the Lagrangian particles and p_rgh for the flow solver. I validated this solver with the Deen bubble column, and the solver yields excellent results. I posted this solver at the CFD forum where it was much appreciated (https://www.cfd-online.com/Forums/openfoam-solving/97629-dispersion-model-lagragian-particle-tracking-model-incompressible-flows.html)
Recently I updated the solver for the OpenFoam version v1712, and I was surprized to see that there is still no solver similar like this. Therefore I thought to send my solver + tutorial to you. Perhaps you could consider to take it into account in the official release version of OpenFOAM. I have included the Deen bubble column case as well. If you would like to have the measurement data as a reference I can try if I can find that, it was a while ago that I have done the validation study. I hope it can be included to the official OpenFOAM branch. I think many users would appreciate to have a solver like this and for me the benefit would be that it is maintained better.
