Feature Request: Option to Disable yPlus Field Writing to Time Folders
Functionality to add/problem to solve
The yPlus
function object currently lacks an option to disable writing the yPlus field to time folders. This limitation can pose a concern, especially in large decomposed simulations, as not being able to disable yPlus field writing may lead to a substantial increase in file counts, potentially exceeding the file quota of 1 million in most HPC clusters.
In addition, Users often monitor yPlus for patches at each timestep (stdout and the .dat
file in the postProcessing
folder), without the need for the yPlus field to be written to time folders.
Proposal
The introduction of flexibility to decide if the yPlus field should be written to time folders would be a significant improvement.
A similar old bug was reported for the OpenFOAM Foundation version, which can be seen here: https://bugs.openfoam.org/view.php?id=2353. The issue was addressed by using an empty objects
list:
objects ();
However, I am not sure if that solution is still applicable in recent versions.
